HOW IS RESTYLANE ADMINISTERED?
All Restylane treatments begin with a consultation to map your facial anatomy and understand your goals. Based on that assessment, we’ll select the most appropriate product(s) from the Restylane family.
We begin by cleansing the treatment area, followed by application of a topical numbing cream and/or ice to minimize discomfort. Restylane fillers are injected using a fine needle or cannula into the appropriate layer of the skin or deeper tissue, depending on the product and treatment area.
Most Restylane fillers contain lidocaine, a built-in anesthetic that helps ease discomfort during the procedure. Treatments typically take 30 to 60 minutes.
PREPARATION BEFORE TREATMENT
To reduce the risk of bruising or swelling:
- Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and NSAIDs 7–10 days prior
- Pause supplements like fish oil, vitamin E, turmeric, or St. John’s Wort
- Limit alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment
- Notify your provider if you’ve had cold sores or are prone to them
